Kent volunteer crews plan to build a new playground and fitness stations in six hours Wednesday, Oct. 19 at Tudor Square Park, 112th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 268th Street.
Kent Parks, Recreation & Community Services, Kent Parks Foundation, Tudor Square Neighborhood Council, Humana Inc., KaBOOM! (a national non-profit organization that has built more than 2,000 playgrounds) and volunteers will join forces to construct the playground. Park officials expect as many as 200 volunteers.
The space will have senior-focused and adult elements such as fitness stations and walking paths to promote good posture balance and flexibility as well as more traditional, kid-friendly equipment to build a truly multi-generational play area.
Crews will gather at 8:30 a.m. and expect to finish by about 3 p.m.
The 4.7-acre park currently has playground equipment, a baseball-softball field and picnic tables.
Anyone interested in volunteering to help with the project can call Victoria Andrews, parks special programs manager, at 253-856-5113 or email vandrews@KentWA.gov.
