The City of Kent Human Services Commission announces its 2013/2014 Request for Proposals for human services.

As a member of the Human Service Funders Collaborative, Kent is participating in this joint application process with 17 other King County cities.

Beginning Thursday, March 15, human services providers will be able to submit one application to any of the 18 cities online at share1app.culturegrants.org. The new Web-based site is a complete grant management system that allows common reporting, contract management and data collection.

“At a time when funding is being cut on many levels, we anticipate receiving a record number of applications,” said Katherin Johnson, Kent’s Housing & Human Services Manager. “The joint application process provides agencies with an efficient method of applying for funds.”

The new process will allow the city’s Human Services Commission to review and rate applications online. Commissioners will review submitted applications during May and June and present funding recommendations to Mayor Cooke in early July.

Commissioners consider community needs, how programs meet the funding priorities set in Building a Health Community: City of Kent Human Services Master Plan, and efficient, effective use of Kent funds.

Agencies interested in applying for funding are encouraged to attend the Human Services Funder’s Collaborative Workshop on Thursday, March 15 at 9:30 a.m. The event will be held at Carco Theater, 1717 Maple Valley Hwy., in Renton.
