Becvar, 85, died peacefully May 25 at his Kent home. He served as president of the Greater Kent Historical Society from 1992-96. Becvar also was involved with the Kent Downtown Partnership.

“It is with a heavy heart to let you know that Jack Becvar, who was very involved with the Kent Downtown Partnership’s Design Committee and a city historian has passed away,” read a Kent Downtown Partnership statement. “Jack will be missed dearly.”
