Thanks to the generosity of the Kent and Covington communities, the Communities In Schools of Kent’s month-long Fill The Bus 2013 drive was a huge success.

CISK officials were able to collect more than 750 pounds of school supplies – from filler notebook paper, composition and spiral notebooks, to crayons, pencils, pens, binders and everything in between.

Supplies are being distributed to Scenic Hill Elementary, Mill Creek Middle School and the Kent Phoenix Academy, with more donations going out next week.

On Wednesday, CISK received a generous delivery of 100 stuffed backpacks from The Boeing Co. and the Boeing Blue Bills.

CISK would like to thank those who donated at the following locations: Kent City Hall; Kent Centennial Center; Kent Commons; Sweet Themes Bakery; Down Home Catering; Cal’s American Classic; First Christian Church; Renton Christian Center; the Covington Chamber of Commerce; Covington Lions; Kiwanis A.M.; Kiwanis Club of Kent; Pembrook Apartments; Hytek Finishes; and St. John The Baptist Catholic Church; as well as everyone who donated school supplies at the Strides 4 Students Fun Run on Aug. 24.

CISK is a local affiliate of one of the nation’s leading dropout prevention agencies.
