Returning veterans from the Kent community can share in the proceeds from the Kent Sunrise Rotary’s second annual Oktoberfest on Sept. 22 at the Red Barn on Railroad Avenue across from Kaibara Park downtown.
The celebration runs from noon to 8 p.m.
Enjoy German brews, brats and TV sports events along with live performances of music and comedy by returning favorite entertainer, Manuela Horn. Come for an hour or stay all day until 8 p.m. Manuela will perform at 4 and 6 p.m.
Kent Sunrise Rotary presents Oktoberfest each year as a way to support local charities and club-funded projects including the popular third grade dictionary distribution program, water and sanitation improvement work in South Sudan, and other activities that support existing homelessness and food for the hungry programs.
Opportunities will be available for attendees to contribute directly to these charitable operations, including raffles and “Fund a Cause.”
Tickets are available in advance for $20 from local Rotarians and cost $25 at the door. The ticket includes a beer stein and one beer.
Fifty percent of the proceeds will go to returning veterans.
