Candidate filing in King County begins May 12 for 2014 elections

Candidates interested in filing for any of the 95 positions, including numerous Legislature seats, open for election in King County this year may file online or in person May 12-16.

Candidates interested in filing for any of the 95 positions, including numerous Legislature seats, open for election in King County this year may file online or in person May 12-16.

King County Elections encourages candidates to file online, the easiest and most efficient method.

Key dates:

May 12, 9 a.m. – May 16, 4 p.m., on-line candidate filing

May 12, 8:30 a.m. – May 16, 4:30 p.m., in-person candidate filing

May 16, approximately 5 p.m., lot draw to determine ballot order

May 19, 4:30 p.m., deadline to withdraw

May 20, noon, King County Elections posts official list of candidates in the order they will appear on the primary ballot

May 28, 4:30 p.m., deadline to file local voters’ pamphlet

Aug. 5, primary election

Nov. 4, general election

To file for office, candidates must be registered in the district for which they are filing.
