The new lights are in along West Meeker Street underneath Highway 167.
Kent Downtown Partnership and the city of Kent unveiled the lights on Thursday night to help brighten the area for pedestrians and provide an impressive gateway into downtown.
The display features energy-efficient, colored LED architectural lighting under the overpass. The artistic light display is programmable and can be changed by the city to mark special events or holidays.
Forty-six businesses and residents donated $24,000 to help pay for the project. The city paid $26,000.
