‘Hydro Fever’ on tap

Home expo Saturday

Local retailer McLendon Hardware is hosting a free home-improvement expo Saturday focusing on outdoor-living spaces. The expo is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Kent McLendon’s, 23662 104th S.E.

The business has partnered with Basalite, a manufacturer of pavers and wall stones, to host an informal workshop. Representatives from Basalite will demonstrate the skills necessary for constructing paved paths and garden walls.

Market is coming

The Kent Farmers Market will open June 7 at the new Town Square Plaza Park, at the corner of West Smith Street and Second Avenue North, in downtown Kent.

More than 40 farmers, food, craft and other vendors already have signed up for the 2008 season. The market will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday through Sept. 27.

Auditions scheduled

Kentridge High School’s At the Ridge Theater will have community auditions for “The Music Man” May 26 and 28 at the Kentridge Performing Arts Center.

Called ART, the theater has produced a Broadway show each summer for the last eight years, Auditions for actors ages 15 and older are scheduled for 9 a.m. May 26, with dance auditions at 12:30 p.m. Call-backs are from 3-8 p.m. Open auditions for actors ages 5-14 are from 3-5 p.m. May 28.
