Assault: A Kent woman reportedly punched her boyfriend in the face during an argument about another woman 9:25 p.m. Jan. 28 at an apartment in the 6200 block of South 249th Street.
The boyfriend called 911 to say his girlfriend had slugged him in the face with a fist shortly after he got out of the shower.
Kent Police arrested the woman for investigation of fourth-degree assault.
The man told officers she had became upset after reading text messages on his cell phone that he sent to another woman. The boyfriend said he had started to see another woman after he and his girlfriend broke up. They had recently gotten back together, but he kept texting the other woman.
The girlfriend told police she had dated the man for about 18 months. She said she became upset about his text messages to another woman and confronted him when he got out of the shower.
Malicious mischief: Police arrested a man for investigation of malicious mischief after he reportedly slashed the tire of a vehicle at about 2 a.m. Jan. 29 near the 22000 block of 84th Avenue South.
Officers received a report of a dispute between two men at a gas station, according to the police report.
The first man told police that the second man had shown up at his house looking to buy drugs, but that he did not know the man. The uninvited visitor then reportedly slashed a tire of the man’s vehicle.
Police arrested the second man for investigation of malicious mischief. Officers found a knife on the man during a body search. The man denied that he had slashed any tires.
Theft: A woman told police she took nearly $560 worth of items Jan. 27 from a store in the 26300 block of 104th Avenue Southeast because she was unemployed, starving and needed the money.
Officers arrested the woman for investigation of third-degree theft, according to the police report.
The woman told police another woman offered to pay her $75 in cash if she stole a list of items for her from the store.
Store security stopped the woman after she had pushed a cart full of items outside of the store without attempting to pay for any of the items.
The woman told officers she had received the list from her ex-boyfriend’s baby’s mother. When asked to show police the shopping list, the woman said she had memorized it.
When the officer told her that was a long list to memorize, the woman replied, “I don’t care if you don’t believe me.”
Malicious mischief: A woman called 911 from a house phone after her husband reportedly broke her cell phone in half and threw the phone across the room at about 2:45 p.m. Jan. 27 at a home in the 11600 block of Southeast 265th Place.
Officers arrested the husband for investigation of malicious mischief, according to the police report.
The wife told police her husband became angry at her because she did not answer her cell phone when she was away from home. She said he believes she is cheating on him with another man and expects her to answer her phone every five minutes.
The husband initially told police he had broken the cell phone, but then claimed his wife broke the phone by throwing it.
Drugs: An officer pulled a vehicle over for crossing a double-yellow line at about 9 p.m. Jan. 29 in the 23900 block of 108th Avenue Southeast.
When the officer walked up to the driver’s window, he said he smelled marijuana coming from inside the car, according to the police report.
Police arrested the man for possession of drug paraphernalia after a police dog helped find a pipe inside the vehicle. The driver admitted the pipe belonged to him. Officers also cited the man for improper passing.
