Blotter: Overnighter in shed leads to arrest

Criminal trespass

Police arrested a man for investigation of first-degree criminal trespass at about 8:30 a.m. Dec. 21 after he spent the night at a shed at a home in the 3800 block of South 252nd Place.

A neighbor spotted the man walking away from the shed pushing a bicycle, according to the police report.

The neighbor asked the man where he got the bike and he replied that he was borrowing it. The man then gave the bike to the neighbor.

The man told responding officers he stayed at the shed because his uncle had wrecked a vehicle nearby and he needed somewhere to stay. He said he took the bike to ride home.

The shed owner said the man did not have permission to stay on the property or to use the bicycle. The shed owner said he didn’t know why the man would want the bike because it had two flat tires.

Assault

A woman reported she’d been punched in the face by a male acquaintance at about 12:15 a.m. Dec. 22 outside of a bar in the 10200 block of Southeast 256th Street.

Police arrested him for investigation of fourth-degree assault.

The man and three female friends reportedly had ridden together in a vehicle to go drinking at a Kent bar. The women wanted to leave and needed to dig their car out of the snow.

One of the women returned to the bar to get the male acquaintance, but he told her he didn’t want to leave. The two reportedly argued outside of the bar when the man punched her twice in the face. The woman fell to the ground after the second punch, got up and ran to her friend’s car.

Officers reported that the woman had a cut lip and blood on her mouth and clothes.
