A crash on State Route 18 resulted in the death of a 1-year-old from Kent, injury of a 27-year-old Kent woman, and a 19-year-old man from Federal Way being charged with, vehicular homicide and vehicular assault while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or any drug.
At about 2:58 p.m. Oct. 21 on State Route 18 at SE 240th Street, Alexis Andaluz-Lozano, a 19-year-old man from Federal Way, was driving a Cadillac ATS 2014 in an unknown lane westbound while a 27-year-old female with a 1-year-old passenger was driving in lane one of two eastbound in a 2005 Hyundai Sonata, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Andaluz-Lozano then left the roadway and crossed the median into the westbound lane, striking the vehicle driven by the woman. Andaluz-Lozano’s vehicle then came to a rest in lane two, and the woman’s vehicle came to rest in lane one and the right shoulder, according to the state patrol.
Andaluz-Lozano and the woman were transported to Harborview Medical Center, and both their vehicles were totaled. The deceased 1-year-old was not identified.
Charges against Andaluz-Lozano were filed in King County Superior Court on Oct. 23.
