Weapons violation

A passenger in a Jeep Cherokee reportedly pointed a handgun at a man after a fight at about 3 p.m. July 17 at a gas station in the 1500 block of West Meeker Street.

Kent Police arrested the man for investigation of unlawful display of a weapon. A witness saw the incident and followed the Jeep Cherokee for about three miles until police pulled the vehicle over in the 23600 block of Pacific Highway South.

The witness told police that three men were punching each other in the parking lot of the gas station. Two of the men then left in the Jeep. The man on the passenger side of the vehicle allegedly pointed a gun out of the window at the man the two had been fighting with. Police were unable to find the third man involved in the fight.

Officers found a 9-mm semiautomatic pistol under the front passenger seat.

Police did not know what had started the fight. One of the men in the Jeep reportedly knew the man they fought with at the gas station.

Assault

A husband who accused his wife of cheating on him, allegedly slapped and kicked his wife in a domestic dispute at about 6:30 p.m. July 14 at an apartment in the 24600 block of Russell Road.

Police arrested the man for investigation of fourth-degree assault. Officers said the woman had red marks on her face and shoulder and a bruise on her leg, according to the police report.

The woman told officers she had returned to the apartment from work when her husband accused her of cheating on him. The couple started to argue in a bedroom. When the woman tried to leave, the husband reportedly slapped her in the face with an open hand.

The husband then reportedly grabbed the woman by her hair and threw her on a bed, and eventually to the floor. He reportedly kicked his wife twice before she fled the apartment and called a friend.

The husband told officers he grabbed his wife so they could talk. He claimed she threw perfume bottles at him.

Theft

Police cited and released a woman for investigation of third-degree theft after she reportedly stole baby clothes, diapers and wipes July 14 from a store in the 24800 block of West Valley Highway.

Store security told police that the woman took baby clothes, removed the tags and placed the items in a baby stroller she was pushing, according to the police report. The woman also reportedly took diapers and wipes and placed those items in the stroller before walking out of the store.

Security personnel brought the woman back inside the store and called police.

The woman told officers she took the items because she had no money. The officer said he cited and released the woman because she had a baby with her, rather than booking the woman into jail.

Robbery

A man reportedly punched another man and took a DVD player during a robbery at a bus shelter July 14 in the 24000 block of 104th Avenue Southeast.

The victim told officers that another man walked up to him at the bus shelter and said, “You remember me?” The victim told the man he didn’t know him. The man then punched the victim an unknown number of times in the face and took a bag with the DVD player, according to the police report.

The man fled on foot eastbound along Southeast 240th Street.

Police closed the case because of a lack of suspect information.
