Robbery
Two men reportedly robbed a man of a media player and a cell phone as the man was cleaning out his vehicle at about 12:30 p.m. May 5 at a Kent car wash in the 24000 block of 102nd Avenue Southeast.
The victim told police that as he sat in the driver’s seat of his Mitsubishi Eclipse, one man walked up and opened the driver-side door and said, “You got anything good?” As the man asked the question, he also lifted his shirt to reveal a gray or silver handgun, according to the police report. The armed man then reached in and took a media player and cell phone.
A friend of the armed man tried to open a passenger-side door that was locked. The driver told police he then pushed the man with the gun and yelled, “Call the cops.” The driver then saw the two men run toward a white Jeep. The man drove his car as he tried to follow the Jeep northbound along 104th Avenue Southeast and westbound on South 216th Street before he eventually lost the Jeep.
Police closed the case because of a lack of suspect information.
Assault
Police arrested a Kent man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he reportedly tore a necklace from his wife’s neck, during a dispute at 11:45 p.m. May 4 at an apartment in the 1400 block of West James Street.
The man reportedly became upset when he returned home, walked into his son’s bedroom and saw a friend of a relative building a bed there. The man told officers he wanted to build the bed for his son.
During an argument among several people in the room, the man reportedly tore his wife’s shirt and ripped a necklace from her neck. Officers noticed that the woman had red marks on her neck.
Witnesses and police said the man appeared to be intoxicated.
Malicious mischief
The adult son of a Kent woman reportedly kicked a hole in his mother’s bedroom door during an argument over money May 4 at an apartment in the 22400 block of 88th Avenue South.
Police arrested the man for investigation of third-degree malicious mischief.
The woman called police to say that her son had threatened to shoot her, according to the police report.
The woman told police she did not want her son in the apartment and that he owed her money. She said her son became very upset and reportedly screamed that he would kill her. The son then reportedly kicked a hole in the bedroom door before his mother left the apartment.
The son initially denied to police that anything had happened. He then told officers he showed up at the apartment to get money his mother owed him.
He denied he made threats to his mother and said he had fallen into the door, causing the hole.
