One man was killed and another man injured when a car struck a tree in Kent at about 4:04 a.m. Friday in the 9200 block of South 208th Street.
Both the driver and passenger are 20-year-old men from Kent. Their names have not yet been released by Kent Police.
Kent Police are trying to determine what caused a man to drive off the road, although the investigation does not indicate the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to a Kent Police media release. There also is no evidence that speed or recklessness contributed to the accident.
“This appears to be a tragic accident that will leave all who were involved devastated,” said Sgt. Jarod Kasner.
Kent Police, firefighters and medics worked to revive and stabilize the driver, but they were unsuccessful. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics transported the passenger to a nearby hospital to be treated for undetermined injuries.
Police will complete a full review of the circumstances and evidence before concluding their investigation.
