Anthony Belka, 17, fatally shot his mother, Ciaira Belka, 33, in the head and then shot himself in the head with a handgun in a murder-suicide last week outside the Valli Kee Apartments in Kent.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the two on Wednesday. The mother and son were found lying on the ground on the afternoon of July 17 outside of the apartment complex in the 23400 block of 104th Avenue Southeast.
“It is my understanding that they both lived at Valli Kee Apartments,” said Kent Police spokeswoman Melanie Robinson. “There was a heated verbal altercation prior to son shooting his mother, then himself.
“Other than that, there is not much to the case. It is a very tragic and unfortunate situation.”
Ciaira Belka worked at Stafford Healthcare, according to her Facebook page. She went to West Auburn High School but grew up in Seattle.
