Fourteen Kent-based Puget Sound Fire firefighters were among the 46 recruits who graduated from the South King County Fire Training Consortium.
The ceremony was Tuesday night, June 27 at River of Life Fellowship Church in Kent. The new firefighters are from 11 King County fire departments and the King County Sheriff’s Office Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Unit.
Family members, friends and firefighters attended the graduation, which included a chief’s message from Fire Chief Ben Lane, of Eastside Fire & Rescue, and a video of the recruits during the 21-week recruit fire academy. Firefighters received their badges, which were pinned on by loved ones.
The new Puget Sound Fire firefighters are:
Alan Arneson, Isaiah Brown, Joseph Giron, Daniel Jones, Astrid Martinez, Jose Perez Coria, Hunter Smith, Ethan Blechschmidt, Sebastian deBont, Aaron Henry, Adam Long, Joshua Padilla, Jordan Peterson-Scotter and Tanner Woelber.
Giron and Henry were two of five firefighters selected to the Chief’s company. The members of the Chief’s company have demonstrated exemplary the 4-pillars of the academy. The 4-pillars are attitude, effort, performance and teamwork, The Chief’s company members are selected by the recruit academy instructors.
Puget Sound Fire serves the residents of Covington, Kent, Maple Valley, SeaTac, Tukwila, King County Fire District No. 37 and King County Fire District No. 43.
