Local singer Zan Fiskum fails to advance to final five on ‘The Voice’

Maple Valley resident says show was ‘one of the best experiences of my life’

Zan Fiskum didn’t make it to the final five on “The Voice,” but the Maple Valley singer with ties to Kent kept her positive attitude.

“I am so thankful and my heart is so full,” Fiskum said in a Facebook video she posted on Tuesday after results were revealed on the NBC show about which singers the voters advanced to next week’s finale. “This has been one of the best experiences of my life. I’m not even sad I’m not going on to the next round. I’m just proud and happy and thankful and excited. This has been so cool.”

Fiskum, 22, is the daughter of John Fiskum, a program coordinator at the Kent Senior Activity Center for more than 30 years. She has performed on the Senior Center stage several times over the years and participated in Kent Parks programs. A Tahoma High School graduate, she was part of coach John Legend’s team on the show and advanced to the final nine.

“I have so much ahead to share,” Fiskum said. “I have a album to release and I can’t wait to release all the big projects I have ahead.”
