Kent-Meridian High to present ‘Unstable Connection’ May 19-21

Musical tells story of students in remote learning during COVID-19

Kent-Meridian High School’s Drama club will present “Unstable Connection” at 7 p.m. on May 19-21 at the school’s performing arts center, 10020 SE 256th St.

The title might be familiar to some because the production was presented last year as a movie on YouTube as Kent-Meridian students produced a film rather than doing a live performance during the pandemic. Writer and director Jay Thornton has teamed up again with singer-song writer Rheanna Atendido in reworking the production into a live musical production.

Set in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, “Unstable Connection” tells the humorous and heartwarming story of a handful of high school students as they navigate the ups and downs of remote learning and the social isolation that living in your bedroom breeds.

The musical will feature Atendido on guitar. The New York based singer-songwriter said she is thrilled to be part of the live production and has taken time out of her busy schedule to perform in the show.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and students with ASB and $5 for children 12 and younger.
