Kent concerts to feature performers singing Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles

Matt Dusk sings Sinatra on March 17; Kenny Brawner portrays Charles March 25

The city of Kent Spotlight Series will feature Matt Dusk singing Frank Sinatra songs on Friday, March 17 and Kenny Brawner portraying Ray Charles on Saturday, March 25.

Both concerts start at 7:30 p.m. and are at the Kent-Meridian High School Performing Arts Center, 10020 SE 256th St. Tickets are $30 for general admission, $28 for seniors and $20 for youth. Purchase tickets at kentarts.com.

Dusk sings Sinatra. All that cool, classy style and energy from the Rat Pack shows of yesterday. Take a journey with Dusk, an award-winning, multi-platinum selling crooner and his full band as they whisk you away to Las Vegas in 1966 where he pays homage to his hero Sinatra.

Dusk takes audiences on a musical journey through Sinatra’s incredible career, including its ups and downs, hilarity and heartbreak. A career that spanned decades is carved into one spectacular night of music and fun, according to the Kent Parks Spotlight Series website.

Ray on My Mind

Part concert, part theatrical production, Ray on My Mind brings the music and story of the great Ray Charles to vivid life.

Portraying Charles, Brawner, a master pianist/vocalist, leads an 11-piece orchestra and three vocalists in performing this American legend’s most popular hits. The music is interwoven with monologues depicting how gospel, blues, jazz and country-influenced Ray’s style, while also reflecting on American social history, his epic battle with drugs and his triumphant return home to Georgia.

The concerts are sponsored by Pete and Pat Curran through the Kent Community Foundation.
