Elephants to underpants: ShoWare lining up the acts for a busy fall

Mixed martial arts, the circus, lingerie football and hockey are among the events lined up over the next few weeks for the ShoWare Center in Kent.

Several professional fighters will compete in Counterstrike, a mixed martial arts event, at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Mario Miranda fights Gary Padilla in the feature event, presented through Alliance Fights of Seattle. Miranda is undefeated in eight bouts. Miranda has a 9-4 record.

Other fighters scheduled to appear include Chris Davis, John Heath, Josh Henry and Josh Calvo.

Tickets are $100 for front row, $70 cage side, $40 premium and $25 general admission.

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Baily Circus will perform Sept. 3-7 at the ShoWare Center in Kent.

Eight shows are scheduled, including 7:30 p.m. Sept. 3-4; 11:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sept. 5; 1 and 5 p.m. Sept. 6; and 1 p.m. Sept. 7, which also is Labor Day.

Tickets are $75 for celebrity seats, $45 front row, $30 VIP, $20 lower level and $15 for upper level.

The Seattle Mist debuts at 9 p.m. Sept. 11 against the San Diego Seduction in the new Lingerie Football League. True to its name, the league features lingerie-clad women playing seven-on-seven tackle football.

Tickets cost $107 for VIP midfield seats, $67 lower sideline, $37 mid-sideline, $24 upper sideline, $18 for corners and $14 for end-zone seats.

The Mist will play two road games before returning Jan. 1 to Kent to play the Phoenix Scorch to conclude the four-game season.

For hockey fans, the Seattle Thunderbirds junior team plays Everett in an exhibition game 7 p.m. Sept. 12.

The T-Birds play their regular season home opener against Everett 7:35 p.m. Sept 18. They host Portland at 7:05 p.m. Sept. 19.

Hockey tickets cost $20 for club seats, $17 for seats behind the glass or $14 for premium seats.
