The Kent Predators are hosting their home season opener with a kick-off party Thursday at Pat’s Bar & Grill, 114 Railroad Ave., Kent.
The party runs 6-9 p.m. and Predator players, management and some of the dancers are expected to be there, mingling with fans.
They’ll play their first home game versus the Fairbanks Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Kent ShoWare Center. The Predators are 0-2 to start the season. Fairbanks is 2-0.
The Predators, an expansion team in the second year of the IFL, is Kent’s newest sports franchise and have been generating a good deal of local buzz, due to general crowd interest in the intensity of indoor football, as well as the team’s share of former local high-school standouts, including Kentwood’s Kevin Jones.
The Billings (Mont.) Outlaws beat visiting Kent 56-40 in the season opener Feb. 28. The Alaska Wild beat the Predators 48-39 on Monday.
