Karolyn Walden-Deal, 84, above, and others move to the hip-hop music during a Kent 50-plus program in the Expanding Your Mind Series at the Kent Senior Center last Friday.
The program featured Shakiah Danielson, below, a self-taught hip-hop instructor and choreographer from Seattle’s Paramount Theatre who demonstrated dance moves and offered free mini lessons.
“I loved it,” said Walden-Deal, a 49-year Kent resident, who danced for the USO and for other performing groups during her lifetime.
Rex Kinney, a dance education and performance manager for the Education and Community Programs Department at Seattle Theatre Group, also played music and joined the group in dance.
