The Kent YMCA, opening this fall, has hired Kelly Guy as its executive director.

Guy has more than 15 years of experience in program development and community outreach and will oversee the work and functions of the Kent YMCA, 10828 SE 248th St. As part of this move, Guy will hold two meet-and-greets at the Kent Y’s temporary office, 220 Railroad Ave. N.:

• Tuesday, May 7 from 4 to 7 p.m.

• Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“I am thrilled to have Kelly Guy join as the new executive director for our new Kent location,” says Marcia Isenberger, Chief Operating Officer for the YMCA of Greater Seattle, in a press release. “She will be Kent’s first executive director for our new branch. With her experience and proven leadership, she’s the perfect person to meet the needs of the greater Kent community.”

Prior to the Y, Guy managed the Edgar & Holli Martinez Foundation Fellowship at the Technology Access Foundation. She also served as a recreation director for Seattle Parks & Recreation and also worked for Casey Family Programs and the City of Seattle’s Human Services Department. She hopes to bring connectivity and community to the new Kent Y.

“I feel as though this position was made for me,” Guy said. “Kent is my community and home. I look forward to opening our doors as a place to gather, connect with others, learn healthy habits and take care of each other.”

Guy started her new position in March. When not working, Guy enjoys traveling, listening to 80’s and 90’s R&B and spending time with her niece and nephews.

The new facility will offer community gathering spaces, an aquatic center with lap lanes and swim areas, as well as gym, group fitness and cardio spaces. The indoor facilities are complimented by outdoor recreation in the expanded Morrill Meadows Park.

For more information, go to kentymca.org. The Kent Y is currently hiring for new positions. RSVP for upcoming hiring fairs on May 11, May 14 and June 8 on the Kent YMCA Facebook page.
