Kent Police Chief Ken Thomas asks neighborhood groups to join with people nationwide on Tuesday Aug. 1, for the 34th National Night Out.
Participating in the event is a great opportunity to bring neighbors together and share food, good talk and fun times for the kids, Thomas said. Neighbors getting to know neighbors is a proven crime prevention tool.
Register your neighborhood event online at kentwa.gov/residents/public-safety/police-department. Click on the National Night Out tab and the registration link. Registration closes July 31.
By registering, neighborhoods also will receive visitors from the police and other city departments. Your event can be as big or small as you want it to be. Have a potluck, ice cream social, outdoor movie night, minute to win it games or whatever you would like.
