John Yingling, from Kent, was named State Alternate Adult Winner at the State Make It With Wool competition on Oct. 28 in Pullman.
The competition was held in conjunction with the annual convention of the Washington State Sheep Producers Association.
Yingling modelled a three-piece ensemble consisting of a wool boucle bomber jacket, black wool button down shirt and black wool jeans of his own design. He received wool yardage and a money prize for his entry.
The Junior winner was Nathan Suhrbier, 16, of Winlock. The Senior winner was Mia Suhrbier, 19, of Bellingham, and the adult winner was Kim Vogley, of Quilcene.
The Washington Make It With Wool Contest is sponsored by the Washington Wool Growers Auxiliary and the Washington State Sheep Producers.
The American Sheep Industry and the American Sheep Industry Women sponsored the national contest.
The Make It With Wool Contest is open to sewers of all ages. The fashionable wool garments can be sewn, knitted, crocheted or felted.
District contests are held throughout the state during October of each year.
