Have fun doing art and celebrate National Youth Arts Month by bringing kids, creativity and diversity to the community at the 30th annual Kent Kids’ Arts Day, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, at the Kent Commons, 525 Fourth Ave. N.

The day-long festival features 14 hands-on art projects led by professional artists and is geared for children ages 4 to 12.

“For 30 years, Kids’ Arts Day has been showcasing the amazing talents of Kent’s young people while fostering new creative talents with hands-on art projects,” said Mark Hendrickson, city cultural programs coordinator, in a city news release. “It’s a fun event the whole family will enjoy.”

Featured hands-on projects include Hands in Wax, Sew a Bean Bag, Sumi Painting, Recycled Robots, Clay Creatures and Print Making. Local school groups and community dance studios will take the stage with multicultural music and dance. Other activities include face painting and larger than life magnetic poetry on the Wall of Words.

Admission is $10 per child and includes all hands-on art projects. Adults and children ages 2 and under get in for free.

Concessions will be provided by Pull My Ear Concessions and Sturgis Sweets Kettle Korn.

Kids’ Day is presented by the Kent Arts Commission and the Kent Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department with partial funding from 4Culture, Washington State Arts Commission, Kent Lions Club, Fred Meyer and Kent Community Foundation.
