Each year the Kent Downtown Partnership takes it upon itself to wrap light poles in historic downtown Kent.
This season is no exception.
KDP board members, staff and volunteers began holiday preparations on Monday, wrapping garland around light poles in downtown. The volunteers also included Bryon Ford of Green River College and students from the college’s Kent Station campus.
Elsewhere, the KDP is hosting a coloring contest for children for the Kent Winterfest program on Dec. 2. Coloring sheets can be picked up at Artsy Fartsy Art Lessons, 2018 W. Meeker St., and Titusville Station, 202 W. Gowe St. Entries must be turned in by Dec. 2, and the winners will be announced the week of Dec. 4. Prizes will be awarded to winners.
In conjunction with the Kent Lions, the KDP is bringing back to Winterfest its Santa Workshop where youth can make ornaments and other festive art projects at Titusville Station and the Rusty Raven at 202 First Ave. S., between 2 and 4 p.m.
The art activities will finish in time for families to view the tree lighting at 5 p.m. in the Town Square Plaza. Santa will arrive, and the lights will be synchronized to music.
