Patrick “Seahawk” Duncan insists he’s not a nut, just a passionate fan who enjoys sharing the love of his team with others.
Dressed in a silver throwback leather helmet, big shades and full retro uniform of his beloved Seahawks, the Poulsbo man took center stage at the third annual HAWKtoberfest Car Show in downtown Kent last Saturday.
“My love affair with the Seahawks goes back to the days of (Dave) Kreig, (Steve) Largent and (Chuck) Knox,” Duncan said between posing for photos and selfies with fans who took in the sun-kissed show along Railroad Avenue. “There is not a day that goes by that I am not representing the Seahawks. From the helmet to the truck, I am a ‘12’ through and through.”
Duncan joined other car enthusiasts who brought their Hawk-themed machines to the show. Duncan’s blue, Cummings diesel-powered 1992 Dodge Ram pickup was a gift, and now he shares that 1-ton gift with others.
“It’s everybody’s truck,” said Duncan, who gives back to his local community as a Seahawkers Boosters Club member.
Duncan said he legally changed his middle name to Seahawk on Jan.6, 2014, 27 days before the team won the Super Bowl. Duncan, who works for the Department of Navy, said he owns 220 different Seahawks jerseys, including a prized 1992 Cortez Kennedy game-worn road jersey.
In addition of all types of vehicles on display, the Kent Downtown Partnership’s HAWKtoberfest included food and craft vendors and family-friendly activities.
Proceeds raised from the event supported the KDP in its work to sustain small businesses and revitalize historic downtown.
