The Kent Arts Commission is seeking entries for its latest online exhibit via Kent Creates, a web platform for sharing art, culture and creative endeavors at KentCreates.com.

The most recent exhibit is open through Nov. 30 and focuses on a theme of fall colors. The call for entries encourages artists and creative minds to gain inspiration from all things autumn.

The “Fall Colors” exhibit is open to any creative endeavor – photographs, paintings, poems, recipes, short films, songs, or stories – anything creative minds can dream up. The Kent Arts Commission will select the top five pieces, which will receive $200 honorariums and featured status on the site.

Winners of summer exhibit

The Kent Arts Commission also announced winners of the most recent exhibit on Kent Creates, “Vacations and Summer Celebrations.” The exhibit was open July through August and received 35 submissions, including paintings, photographs, drawings, collages and mixed media pieces.

Arts commissioners voted on submissions and, in keeping with the commission’s commitment to pay artists for their work, the artists of the top five pieces received $200 honorariums. The winners’ work also appears on the featured carousel on the Kent Creates homepage.

The five winners are:

Naoko Morisawa “My Collection – Beach” (wood mosaic collage), Adrienne Barker “Carolyn Downs 2017” (acrylic painting), Erica Peto “Moonlight Ferry” (photograph), Joan Stuart Ross “Summer Boats” (encaustic painting), and Suzanne Bailie “Sweet Strawberries Scented Flowers” (collage).

Kent Creates is free to use and anyone can sign up; there is no requirement to live in Kent.
