The Miss Auburn & Miss Auburn’s Outstanding Teen Program is looking for contestants.
The program, one of the strongest community-based scholarship competitions of its kind in the state, awards more than $35,000 in funds each year to local young women.
The Auburn program, which is set for Jan. 20, 2018 at the Performing Arts Center, is an official preliminary to the Miss Washington, Miss Washington’s Outstanding Teen, Miss America & Miss America’s Outstanding Teen scholarship pageants. It also provides personal development assistance in poise and self-confidence, interviewing and public speaking skills, plus leadership and community service training.
To qualify for the Miss Auburn program, girls must be between the ages of 17 and 24 and live, work or go to school in the Auburn area, or where Auburn is their closest local program to compete in. To qualify for the Teen program, girls must be between the ages of 13 and 17, with no boundary restrictions.
In addition, the Miss Auburn’s Little Sister (ages kindergarten to fourth grade) and Ambassador (fifth to seventh grade) programs are seeking girls.
The Little Sister program is a non-competitive mentoring program striving to develop poise, self-confidence, social skills and friendships in girls. Little Sisters will be matched and mentored with a Miss or Teen contestant throughout the experience. The Miss Auburn Ambassador program was created to provide leadership training for young girls and to prepare them with the skills necessary to move into Miss Auburn’s Outstanding Teen Program.
