Church seeks volunteer cooks, helpers for Kent Monday Night Supper

Free meal to community each Monday at Kent Lutheran Church

With Nancy Turner retiring as a cook with the Kent Community Monday Night Supper, more volunteers are needed to help cook the free weekly meal for anyone who wants to eat.

The supper is from 5 to 6 p.m. each Monday downtown at Kent Lutheran Church, 336 Second Ave. S..

“We are need of volunteer cooks and cook’s helpers to continue this vital community service,” said Emily Bumpous, leader of the volunteer group.

A cook decides the menu, makes sure all ingredients are available and directs the helpers. Cook’s helpers assist with meal preparation.

Volunteers can sign up to serve every Monday or choose a week of the month to assist.

“Even if people don’t come to church, this is the kind of thing people want to be involved with hands on,” Kent Lutheran Pastor Tormod Svensson said about attracting more volunteers.

To sign up or for more information, call the Kent Lutheran Church office at 253-852-2057 and leave a message for Emily Bumpous with your name, phone number and email.
