Regarding the speed limit in Renton for the Cedar River Trail.
My point of view expressed below has developed after 25K miles in 10 years riding in 10 states and British Columbia.
What a refreshing change of pace from the "normal" newspaper fare. I so enjoyed Joyce's current article, "The Saga of a Quilter's Husband." Donald is definitely not a retiree that will sit in his chair watching TV until he croaks. God bless the Beckers!
What difference can students make in the wake of environmental disasters? Aren’t they just kids?
City of Kent Mayor, Suzette Cooke can confirm that Kent students can and are making a positive difference in our community and the world.
Hello, my name is Karen and I read your article about the strange orb in the photo taken of the family members at the Kent Historical Museum. (“A ghostly orb, or a trick of light?” Page 6, June 4 Kent Reporter.)
I believe I heard/saw the Democratic legislators and Governor Gregoire tell us they had "cut" the budget as much as possible, sparing the "vulnerable" among us, before raising $800,000,000 in new taxes. I also heard from the governor that we are in a fiscal crisis.
Regarding the story "Vandals strike Kent East Hill shopping complexes."
I would like to respond to the column by Kim Halley ("Spotlight on Inclusion" May 7). I, too, attended this event on April 22. In fact, as a general education teacher, I was involved in a focus group for this project.
I would like to commend the Kent City Council for their vision in extending the lunch program at the Kent Senior Center.
Republicans, it seems, are in love with the tea party concept.
So soon after the tea party they threw in Iraq, they are proposing another right here in America.
On behalf of all fire personnel in the Kent Fire Department, we want to thank you for your past support and the vote of confidence that you have placed in us with the passage of Prop. 1.

Earlier this morning, while I was having my third cup of coffee, I read your column ("Please, God, don’t make me go back to Disneyland") in today’s edition of the Kent Reporter (April 16.)
And, a while ago, I got to thinking of the last (in fact, the only) time that I ever visited Disneyland. And, that was a while ago too — more like 49 years ago (probably before you were even born). I was much younger, and had more hair in those days. Anyway, after that one trip, I was cured — of any desire to ever return.
The excitement and energy were quite evident on April 22nd for the more than 200 people who attended Spotlight on Inclusion, an event sponsored by the Kent School District in collaboration with the Special Education Advisory Committee, the district’s parent, staff and community committee that partners with the district’s special education department.
Do you have a warm and caring family? Are there pets in your household who give you unconditional love?
I second the statement from last week’s letter regarding the creation of a regional fire authority, “Opposed to regional fire authority plan,” April 16 Kent Reporter. I paraphrase it: “Vote for this measure with your eyes open.”
Representatives Upthegrove and Orwall claim that our state government cut $3 billion from the state budget last year. If that budget was actually $3 billion less than the previous budget then I commend them. If not, they lied to us.
I did not go to the Predators second home game last Friday but I did talk to my Dad who did go. He told me the Predators only had one personal foul penalty called all game on them.
The Kent City Council is going to let voters decide if they want to tax themselves under the Regional Fire Authority plan.
National Volunteers Week April 18-24 celebrates the spirit of service to others in communities across the nation.
