I would like to give a big shout-out to the city of Kent Public Works crew.
I live on a very large wetland pond, and over the last 15 years the level of the pond has risen to such a degree that most of the trees behind my fence have died. The water has been flooding my back yard 6 to 8 feet every winter, and water has been pooling under my house.
The pond itself is in Kent, but the outlet, which was very overgrown, is in Auburn. In the past, Auburn has not felt it was its responsibility to clean up the outlet since the pond is not in its jurisdiction, and Kent has not because the outlet is in Auburn.
This year I was fortunate to speak with city utilities superintendent Greg Reed. He enlisted help, gathered a crew, and they cleared out the outlet.
This is the first year the water did not come past my fence. They went above and beyond for me, and I am very grateful.
Thank you, crew.
