We all depend on the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority to provide emergency medical services and fire protection and prevention throughout our community.
Several years ago, we were paying $1.00 per 1,000 square feet of assessed value for these services. We are currently paying approximately $0.70 for those same services. That amount has not been adjusted for inflation since 2011.
For the PSRFA to maintain the same level and quality of service, the property tax rate needs to be reset to $1, and that requires a yes vote from you.
The PSRFA has a two-part funding system, which includes a property tax in combination with a benefit charge. If this measure passes, while the property tax will increase, the benefit charge will decrease at almost the same amount.
Please vote yes for Prop 1 on Aug. 6.
