When was the last time Kent School District opened its books to the public? I can’t recall.
Years ago my realtor said KSD is good, healthy and rich. Maybe this isn’t true after McCleary. Open KSD’s accounting books for all eyes to see and review.
Now this new KSD mailer to refinance education bonds comes at a very odd time. I know the bond market dwarfs the U.S. stock market. And look at the trillions of dollars the surging stock market has created, breaking one high record right after another in the past 14 months. So, the timing makes me scratch my head, because the Federal Reserve Bank is raising interest rates. Money costs more. Rising rates are generally bad for bonds.
Yet, KSD cranks out bond measures as fast as Boeing does 777s. Inflation be damned.
What isn’t KSD telling us?
Who gains the most, creating and writing bonds for Kent? Who really benefits?
This is never in the fake brochure copy or lengthy news story.
If I reject Prop 1 and 2, then I keep my money as you would, too. I’d use it the way I see fit for U.S. disaster victims, Green River College scholarships or investing in good American companies in a raging bull stock market for my own retirement.
We live in the land of disruptors. Yet, KSD stubbornly dismisses these most efficient, cost-saving opportunities.
To roll over the existing bond, how much is the early termination penalty fee that Kent property owners will eat? How much commission did we pay for our current bond? What are the new commission fees for Prop 1 & 2?
Are we being soaked?
KSD wants voters like mushrooms: in the dark and in zoo doo.
I don’t know about you. But, I no longer trust KSD with money matters because of chronic sloppiness and arrogance.
How ‘bout the open accounting books for everybody’s eyes and the whole transparency thing. Bright light is the best antiseptic.
KSD serves the people of Kent, not the other way around. Or … does it?
Yeah, I just persuaded myself to reject Prop 1 and 2 for incomplete full disclosure, too much fat and waste. Something with KSD just doesn’t pencil out.
