What is happening to the immigrant children who were separated from their parents at the southern border of our country? A federal judge has ordered reunification of immigrant children and parents within 30 days.
Instead, it seems there are black-site operations underway – to hide the children from public view and keep their identity and location unknown – in our own country. These “ghost detainees” have been kidnapped by our government and rendered to detention centers or held in secret foster homes. Furthermore, cases of abuse – naked children strapped to chairs with bags on their heads – have been exposed to the public.
This situation is tortuous for these families and most American citizens. The civilized world is condemning this separation of families. I do not want the tax dollars I give to our government being used to support the separation and traumatization of immigrant children.
Organizations have offered to help our government reunite these families. Our elected officials need to work to reunite these children with their parents before it is too late, and pass humane immigration legislation.
