The Rotary Club of Kent has been selected as a recipient in the Urbia Fresh Café Connections Program. As a result, the cafe will donating 5 percent of its Oct. 30 gross sales to the Rotary Club of Kent’s Dictionary Project. Nominated by member Andy Wangstad at Urbia’s Web site, the Rotary Dictionary Project was the first nominee to Urbia Fresh’s Connections Program.
Cafe staff selected the Kent Rotary project because the service club’s goal to present each third-grade student in the Kent School District with a new dictionary was one that Urbia Fresh Café owner Lori Nevin said “met her vision.” That vision includes giving back to the community and helping to foster community connection.
Urbia Fresh will continue to select a nominee each month to receive 5 percent of its sales on the fourth Saturday of the month. In addition, a portion of every dollar spent at Urbia goes to the Mary Garner Esary Charitable Trust, an endowment for educational grants.
