Sysco employees show off job skills at Kent warehouse

Company holds competitions in warehouse work and truck driving

Sysco, the world’s largest food service distributor, hosted an employee competition at its Kent warehouse called Sysco Rodeo that was open to their friends and family.

Approximately 350 Sysco colleagues and family members attended the event Saturday, July 13 at the Kent facility, 22820 54th Ave. S. The Houston, Texas-based company employes more than 260 in Kent.

There was fun for the whole family – everything from bounce houses, obstacle courses, games, dunk tank, face painting and balloon animals. Lunch was served for all attendees and prepared by Sysco’s local team of chefs, produce specialists and fellow team members.

The competition celebrated the technical skills of their warehouse workers and Class A drivers that promote safety and excellent service by putting them through a series of tasks and rating them on speed, quality, safety and execution.

Tasks fell within a few categories: expertise behind the wheel, operating procedures and vehicle inspections. Colleagues did a great job during each competition event as guests looked on and had an opportunity to witness the best of the best demonstrate the advanced skills needed to safely and efficiently serve customers, both in trucks and warehouses.

First to third place for each category was recognized at the event.
