Nana’s Southern Kitchen now has a location in Covington in addition to its Kent site.
The Covington restaurant is at 27149 185th Ave. SE, Suite 113, in the Covington Esplanade shopping mall that includes Home Depot. Dine-in and takeout is available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Todd Minor, of Kent, opened his first Nana’s Southern Kitchen in December 2019 in Kent, 10234 SE 256th St.
The restaurant gave Minor an opportunity to honor his great-grandmother Myrtle Henderson, who was born in Goshen, Virginia and later moved to New Haven, Connecticut. The restaurant is named after Henderson, who worked at a diner near Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Many of the recipes are from Henderson, aka Nana.
The entrees include fried chicken, pork chops, fried shrimp and catfish. The sides include candied yams, potato salad, mac & cheese, cabbage, string beans and collard greens.
