McLendon Hardware announced today that it has been acquired by Central Network Retail Group.
The transaction is expected to take place in April, according to a media release.
CNRG operates 90 hardware stores and lumberyards in 11 states.
The inspiration behind this transaction is the desire to continuing growing through the Puget Sound region, McLendon Hardware president Gail McLendon said in the release.
The Renton store opened in 1926 and was originally known as the U.S. Junk Company.
Expert advice, legendary customer service and unmatched product selection have been the hallmarks of McLendon’s success for more than 90 years,” McLendon said in the release. “However, continued if not aggressive growth is essential. CNRG has the financial strength to sustain and expand our business in the Puget Sound Region and beyond.”
None of McLendon’s eight stores will close and the name will remain the same.
Gail McLendon along with Mike McLendon will continue to manage the company, the release said.
CNRG currently operates a hardware store in the Portland, Ore. and Vancouver, Wash. region and they have been “looking for (expanding) in the Pacific Northwest,” Boyden Moore, CNRG’s president, said in the release.

McLendon is well-known and respected throughout the industry for their great stores, service, and team” Moore said. “We will continue to invest in and grow McLendon’s here and perhaps beyond.
