Kent-based Airways Brewing released a new logo and branding on Thursday in connection with a June relocation of its brewery and tap room.
“Over the past six years, a lot has changed,” said Alex Dittmar, Airways founder in 2010 and head brewer, in a media release. “As we get ready to move the brewery and expand production, we’ve spent some time reflecting on where we want to go, and what makes Airways unique in a region that loves airplanes and beer.
“The new logo reflects our passion for the glamorous era of airline travel. While the airplanes are of course a huge part of that, we also wanted to capture the spirit of the people in the industry. These were innovators in an age before computers, and hard-working crews that worked long hours to make flying a luxury. The new logo pays tribute to their stories and the enduring friendships that have been passed on to us at Airways.”
The new tap room will open with a soft launch at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14. Construction on the 9,000-square-foot facility, 8611 S. 212th St., started in March and is expected to be ready to produce beer in July. The new spot will replace the original brewery and tap room and will allow for up to a fourfold increase in production as well as an increase in seating capacity.
The original location, on West Valley Highway and South 196th Street, will be open through Friday, June 10.
Airways, which announced its planned move in March, will expand hours at the new site. The hours are 2 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday through Thursday; 2-10 p.m. on Friday; and 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday. The tap room is closed on Sunday and Monday.
Pints, tasters, growler fills and packaged products will be available at the tap room. Guests can bring in food from surrounding restaurants, and well-behaved dogs are welcome. Guests must be at least 21 years old.
Airways Brewing also operates a Beer & Bistro in downtown Kent, 320 W. Harrison St.
