The Kent Sunrise Rotary Club recognized staff and students at Northwood Middle School for academic achievement, service and citizenship.
Rotary Members, family, guests and honorees gathered Jan. 22 to share a meal and honor six members of Northwood, 17007 SE 184th St., in Renton. The Kent Sunrise Rotary Club dedicates one meeting each month during the school year to honor a Kent School District middle school. The group also paused to reflect on the words of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. from his last sermon at Ebenezer Baptist Church, titled “The Drum Major Instinct.”
Students Snaeha Goswami and Matthew Mai were recognized for academic achievement. Students Katherine Radice and Richard Seibel were recognized for their service and citizenship. Math teacher Robert Mattson and In-school supervisor Michelle Montgomery, were also recognized. Principal Sherilyn Ulland, the honorees and their families were invited to attend the special celebration.
