You are urged to “Find It In Kent,” as part of a recently launched campaign reminding consumers about the benefits of spending locally.
Development of the campaign was a team effort by the Kent Chamber of Commerce, Kent Station, the City of Kent, Kent Reporter, BECU and the Kent Downtown Partnership. Window Clings and posters are available for local businesses wishing to participate. You can receive any of these items from any of the organization/companies listed below.
The benefits of local spending outlined in the Kent campaign include: Spending locally invests in our future, supporting our schools, maintaining our parks, fixing our roads, sustaining and creating local jobs. (Shopping locally supports our schools because local merchants support our schools with donations, etc.)
As well as being urged to spend locally, you can visit www.Facebook.com/FindItInKent site. There, you can enter comments and impressions about shopping in Kent and the “it” you found shopping here. You’ll also be entered to win prizes, including Kent Station gift cards, Kent Reporter movie packages, Kent Chamber gifts, and KDP gift certificates.
As part of the “Find it in Kent” campaign, The Amazing Place scavenger hunt will launch Jan. 18 and run to March 15. This is an eight-week promotion directing people to participating businesses in an effort to encourage local shopping. They’ll be on the hunt for golden tickets, which will enable them to win prizes.
How does it work? Monday morning a weekly riddle will be placed on the www.Facebook.com/FindItInKent site. Be sure to check your Kent Reporter on Wednesdays, as they will have the clue hidden in the paper.
You can collect a Golden Ticket from all eight businesses participating. Once you secure all eight tickets, drop them off at the Kent Downtown Partnership, Kent Chamber, BECU or Kent Station and be entered for a chance to win prizes. This event is sponsored by BECU.
In the meantime, practice shopping local and posting the treasurers you find on the www.Facebook.com/FindItInKent site. Help get the word out and “shop local.”
You can make a difference by shopping locally.
