Comcast Business, one of the nation’s leading providers of information and communications products and services to companies, this week announced a major expansion of high-speed broadband to underserved commercial areas in Renton and Kent.
Local businesses will have access to Comcast Business Internet and Ethernet services, which can provide data transport services with speeds up to 10 Gbps and the ability to connect multiple locations.
“We are pleased that Comcast is making this investment in our community,” said Renton Mayor Denis Law. “We know businesses need access to high-speed broadband in order to expand or relocate. With the economy recovering, this investment will ensure we have the infrastructure in place to create new jobs and economic opportunities.”
Comcast Business has completed its expansion to commercial areas in Renton, providing more local businesses with access to its secure, reliable and high-performance Ethernet or broadband network that offers more scalable bandwidth and significantly faster speeds than is currently available. The Kent expansion is under way and scheduled to be completed in early 2014.
Kent Mayor Suzette Cooke added, “Kent has leading class companies that are competing globally for new business opportunities. In today’s digital world, access to high-speed broadband is essential to ensuring they can continue to grow and prosper. “
Comcast Business is targeting expansions of its fiber network in areas that are underserved and could benefit from access to broadband, providing local companies with potential benefits over traditional services including speed and scalability.
