A couple of enterprising businessmen came up with a great idea to cut the rug  – Again.

The Again company recycles carpet and it is right on the forefront of the green movement.

The Kent-based company recycles carpet, all carpets, and their warehouse is stacked to the ceiling with more coming everyday.

The idea for the company began with a couple of entrepreneurs, Bill Betts and his partner Mark Murphy.

Betts said the two were looking for a business opportunity, and after researching the idea realized, “it needed to be done and it’s rewarding. The state and the community were pushing for it.”

Betts said what ended up in landfills is now being processed and recycled.

Some of the uses for the recycled material includes material for the auto industry, plastics and turning it back into carpet.

“We take in all carpet,” Betts said.

The carpet recycling business is advancing rapidly where all carpet material will soon be recycled for a variety of products.

Betts said along with plastic bottles, recycled carpet is also used in the cement industry and as part of a filtration system for oil clean ups.

Carpets can be dropped off at the warehouse or Again will pick up carpet. There is a cost for dropping off carpet, but according to Betts it is considerably less expensive than hauling the material to the dump. There is also a charge for picking up carpet.

The company is open 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and by appointment on Saturdays.

Again is at 21255 76th Ave. S. in Kent. They can be contacted by phone at 253-981-6675 or email at wb@againco.com. The company website is www.againco.com/.
