Workers who lost pay because their employer closed due to the December snow storms potentially qualify for unemployment benefits, according to officials at the Washington State Employment Security Department.

Unless conditions change, Washington’s three main east-west mountain passes are expected to remain closed to traffic overnight. If the recent winter storm caused damage to your property in King County, you may be eligible for financial assistance. But the clock is ticking, in terms of when those applications are due. County officials determine eligibility through a damage-assessment process, which takes into account total reported losses within King County over the next two weeks.
