The man also allegedly called the 25-year-old woman's house phone eight times in four hours earlier in the day, according to the police report.

The second-ranked Auburn High football team was given a jolt Friday night at French Field. But it was just enough to wake up the South Puget Sound League North Division favorites. Behind a big performance from all-league running back Alphonse Wade, the Trojans (1-0) scored 21 unanswered points in the third and fourth quarters en route to a 28-14 victory over Kentridge in the season opener for both teams. Wade rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.

Kent Police arrest man after hostage situation ends peacefully

Kent Police arrested a man in his 40s for investigation of first-degree kidnapping, first-degree assault and attempted arson after he held a woman hostage at knifepoint and threatened to set himself and the woman on fire. The incident occurred at about 2:07 p.m. Friday at the Arbor Chase Apartments at 64th Avenue South and West Smith Street in the Kent Valley, according to a Kent Police media release.

Kent Police arrested a 23-year-old Covington man for investigation of first-degree assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm after he reportedly fired several shots at a 28-year-old Kent man at about 5:20 p.m. Aug. 30 near Kent-Kangley Road and 116th Avenue Southeast.
