The city of Kent now owns the unfinished parking garage downtown at Fourth Avenue North and West Smith Street.
City officials hope that means they might be able to finally find a developer to take over the stalled project.
The lunch special Friday at the Kent Senior Activity Center is three-cheese lasagna with meat sauce, garlic bread and broccoli. Diners also can opt for a fresh deli sandwich with soup or salad.
All meals are $6, and the lunches are available to all in the community.

A year ago, the Kent-Meridian High volleyball team was on the outside looking in.

For years, it had worked out exactly that way for former Kent-Meridian High multi-sport star Melanie Vertrees. From gymnastics to swimming, volleyball to basketball, cross country to track, Vertrees did it all growing up, and while attending the East Hill school.
The ball hasn’t bounced the way of the Kent-Meridian High football team for the last several years.
On Saturday, Oct. 2, however, the Royals finally had one go their way.
