Kent students receive free dental services

As part of National Dental Health Month, Seattle-King County Public Health offered free dental sealants to second-grade students at Meadow Ridge Elementary last week. Fairwood Dental Center is offering a free exam, X-ray, teeth cleaning and fluoride treatment to all children age 14 and younger on Feb. 18.

Northbound I-5 lane closures in Kent begin Monday night

Contractor crews begin construction work on northbound Interstate 5 in Kent between South 308th and South 260th streets. Crews will close lanes to shave up to three-quarters of an inch off all lanes of I-5.

While reading the article about civility laws to deal with the issues of homelessness, I was dismayed by the seeming lack of civility expressed toward this issue.

Let’s help, understand our homeless

Before the city enacts "civility laws" to control homeless behavior, the mayor and council might consider installing portable toilets in discrete locations near the library and in other park areas. Putting people in jail for relieving themselves in public is a complicated legal proposition – further clogging up courts and jails.
